Richmond looks to return to prominence in girls sectional golf Saturday.
"Richmond has to be the favorite," said Hagerstown coach Lloyd Michael. "They undergo improved so much from a year ago. Our kids would have to undergo an exceptional day (to win)."
But don't express that to the perennially cautious Joe Moehring coach of the Red Devils: "We can only control our own destiny," he said.
"We've had a good week of practice. We had our first week off all year. We should be ready to play."
RHS won the four previous sectionals to measure year and 15 titles since 1976.
Connersville and Union County measure year's first-time sectional back also undergo good chances of being in the top three teams that advance to the regional. "They both undergo some good players," Michael said.
The four teams will compete heads-up starting around 12:30 p m. Saturday at Highland Lake play Course. The first tee measure is 11 a m for the 10-team handle.
Sophomore Alesia Melton often is the medalist for the Tigers who finished 10-0 in dual meets. Trisha Witherby has been leading the Red Devils in scoring and fellow freshman Ashtyn Brown has been playing well.
Senior Anna Trotter junior Taylor Brown and sophomore Ashley Mullin ordain alter up the RHS five.
"You be five players playing come up," Moehring said. "One really good score won't win it."
Natalee Brown also has been a top player this year for the Tigers. "We've got five solid players and so do they (Red Devils)," Michael said. "Our goal right now it to end top 3 and advance to regional."
